Programs We Support With Your Generous Donations

Microchip Clinics

LEASH, Inc. sponsors Microchip Clinics with local veterinary clinics to provide free pet microchipping for pets of Lake County residents. Microchipping is an effective way to be sure your pet can be identified if he or she is ever lost. The microchip is inserted just under the skin, typically between the shoulder blades. Each microchip contains a registration number and the phone number of the registry for the particular brand of chip. When your pet is found, a handheld scanner reads the radio frequency of the chip and displays this information. An animal shelter or vet can then call the registry to find your name and phone number so your pet can be safely returned to you.

 Free Spay and Neuter Certificates

LEASH, Inc. issues free spay and neuter certificates for dogs of Lake County residents unable to afford this procedure. The certificates have been made available through the generosity of the W. Noyes and Ruth D. Baker Charitable Trust, Franklin’s Friends, and Petco who provided grants to LEASH for these procedures. If you would also like to donate to this important cause and increase the number of spayed and neutered dogs in Lake County, please click on the Donate button below.

Trap-Neuter-Return

We are diligently working on a comprehensive trap-neuter-return program for Lake County. Partnering with local clinics, government agencies, and volunteers like you, we have helped spay and neuter thousands of community cats to date. We believe that TNR is the only humane and effective approach to reducing the community cat population in our neighborhoods. Your support will allow LEASH to purchase humane traps that we use to catch and transport community cats for spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping and ear-tipping by a licensed veterinarian. We also lend these traps to Lake County residents and provide assistance to individuals who would like to get community cats into the TNR program. Your support is greatly appreciated!
